Catholic Answers: World News Forum

Poster A: Voting is a right. ID laws are unconstitutional.
Poster B: Well I need a driver's license to drive ...
Poster A: Driving isn't a right, but voting is.
Poster C: If the 5th Circuit says voting is a right we should listen to them.

Poster D: I believe in global warming. The earth is in serious danger. Hopefully we can fix this before it gets worse.
Poster E: How is it going to be fixed? By massive gov't regulations and high taxes?
Poster D: If that what it takes then so be it.

Civic lesson: Illinois Primary "Loophole"

Huh?
All 69 of Illinois' delegates to the Republican National Convention will be bound to Presidential Candidates based on the results of today's Illinois Presidential Primary.
  • 54 National Convention District delegates are elected in a so-called "Loophole" primary (a Delegate Selection Primary combined with an Advisory "beauty contest" presidential preference vote). Each candidate for [District] delegate ... must file a Statement of Presidential Preference supporting a specific presidential candidate, or a statement that he/she intends to run uncommitted [SBE No. P-1E]. District delegates are directly elected by the voters and individually listed on the ballot with their presidential preferences indicated.
  • 12 National Convention Statewide Delegates are bound winner-take-all to the candidate receiving the largest number of votes statewide. These delegates do not appear on the ballot and are chosen at the State Convention.
  • The 3 party leaders, the National Committeeman, the National Committeewoman, and the chairman of the Illinois Republican Party, will attend the convention, by virtue of their position, bound winner-take-all to the candidate receiving the largest number of votes statewide.
RedState.com further explains -
So, what about the other 54 delegates? That’s where the “loophole” comes in.
Along with voting for presidential candidates, you also vote for the delegates at the same time. This means you can in theory vote for John Kasich (why) in the primary, but vote for Ted Cruz’s delegates in your Congressional District’s race. This means that it is entirely possible for, say, Donald Trump to win the popular vote, and therefore those 15 delegates, but Cruz could win more Congressional Delegates. Though it is rare for such a thing to happen, that is the hope of several conservatives in Illinois and elsewhere.
Quadrangle also tries to clear the confusion -
Technically, Illinois holds a "loophole" primary in which district-level delegates will be elected directly on the ballot. And that has candidates packing events and pleading for votes around the region. The remainder of the delegates will be divided proportionately among candidates based on their statewide vote, with 15 percent again the minimum threshold to get delegates.
 Totally understood.

Hillary + 6 coin tosses

Hillary Clinton won six coin tosses to win Iowa's primary. In order to win every coin toss in six tries the chances are one in 64, or 1.56%.

In Chicago the dead vote, so the (D)'s know how to rig the voting process in order to gain their W.

With Bernie Sanders he's promising free college education. Now if that includes graduate school on the master's level then my vote goes to ... Ted Cruz.

F*ck the Police? F*ck the Courts and ACLU!

The Supreme Court recently blocked the states of Wisconsin and Texas' bill to put in place voter identification come this November -- you just need to show a valid ID in order to vote (driver's license, state ID)  -- but that's controversial to the civil rights lawyers (like I didn't see this coming) that opposed it.

According to the L.A. Times
By a 6-3 vote, the justices granted an emergency appeal from civil rights lawyers, who argued it was too late to put the rule into effect this year.
Lawyers for the ACLU noted that the state had already sent out thousands of absentee ballots without mentioning the need for voters to return a copy of their photo identification.
It would be “chaos,” they said, for Wisconsin to have to decide whether to count such ballots now because voters had failed to comply with the new law.
I'll psychoanalyze the emergency: "We can't enforce these standards on the illegal immigrants in the States. If that happens then it greatly weakens the chances of any (D) winning the election! We need the votes! Plus, it's their right to vote -- it's racism to make people (of color) to show a valid ID. It's totally non-progressive." The desperation smells like burning rubber. Oh the stench ...

It just can't be anymore obvious why the ACLU "civil rights" lawyers did what they did. Their motivations and thoughts are bare.

Here are some of the things, in my city, where you need to show a valid ID:
  • discounted opera tickets for students; valid student ID must be present when presenting ticket for entrance
  • bars (21 yrs of age)
  • entering certain building accessible only to its employees; guests need passes
  • purchasing any student discounts for public transportation (need valid ID and working student e-mail address)
  • teacher discounts at movies
  • using a credit card (sometimes the cashier asks)
  • paying by check
But, for someone idiotic reason, ACLU and other like-minded "brights" think that enforcing a bill into law stating one must show proof of identification when voting wasn't all that important, that they left it off when sending out the ballets. Those law degrees are proving to be a waste when it comes to anything remotely cerebral; I wonder what type of logic courses they took in their college years, if any.
